Young history professor Jack Turner takes a retreat at a lakeside cabin just outside of Culpepper, Georgia, to work on his doctoral dissertation. The cabin is owned by an ambitious state senator, an inheritance from his father. Inside, everything is exactly the way it was when the old man died 10 years ago. While taking a break from his research, Jack snoops through the father's books and finds an old photo album filled with black-and-white pictures of orphaned children.
Intrigued, he continues searching and finds what appears to be evidence of murder and an old leather journal, handwritten entirely in German. Rachel Cook, Jack's girlfriend, translates the journal for him. What it reveals instantly puts both of their lives in mortal danger.
Remembering Dresden Jack Turner Suspense Series Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Dan Walsh Kirby Heyborne Tantor Audio Books
One book throws the reader into Dresden, Germany during the Allied bombing during WWII. This book took me captive, my heart in my throat, then left me dangling with heaps of unanswered questions. It transitioned abruptly to the present and follows Jack Turner who is a Professor, writer, and totally smitten man. Rachel, his paperdoll love interest, skips in and out of the story line whenever she's needed. Enter the villains, a corrupt politician and his lackeys who behave with typical self-interest. The plot of this second book revolves around a discovery Jack makes at the cabin he's renting on a lake. What begins as a curiosity, shortly turns life threatening.Dan Walsh has crafted a Suspense Novel with a dash of heart. It's relatively free of brutality, gore and sex making it appropriate for YA readers. Even the vocabulary suits that readership. This reviewer gave four stars mainly because of the predictable plot. The first part kept this reader flipping pages. This novel had so much potential. The second part unfolded like turning the leaves of a very old scrapbook a page at a time. This reviewer had the ending figured out soon after the second part began, but it was fun to see how Dan Walsh resolved the story. All that said, I can still recommend this book, especially for readers with squeamish stomachs. Good story. Can't wait for book three.

Remembering Dresden Jack Turner Suspense Series Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Dan Walsh Kirby Heyborne Tantor Audio Books Reviews
Culpepper, GA. Professor Jack Turner (Culpepper U, PhD history student, PTSD) & Rachel Cook (Jack’s GF, Culpepper U student) were discussing the horrors that occurred at Dresden, Germany back in 1945.
8 WWII piolets of the 379th. Bombardment Group had been murdered in arsonist/explosions related fires.
DS Joe Boyd (Culpepper PD) got a call to head out to the convenience store.
3 thugs were offended by a jar full of 50 confederate flags.
1 of the, was videotaping the events that were going to happen on his cell phone.
Jack had found a bunch of black/white pictures & WWII memorabilia that was left at the Lake Sampson cabin he/Rachel shared.
Lots of it was in German which he had to use Google to translate.
What was in the envelope Senator Burkhart “Burke” Wagner (D; GA) gave Harold Vandergraf (Burke’s aide)?
2/13/1945, Dresden, Germany. Luther Wilhelm Hausen (8, son/brother), & Ernst Josef Hausen (12, son/brother, Hitler Youth) were crossing the Augustus-Brucke bridge & talking about the events of WII.
The 2 of them were going to meet their sister Eva (28, daughter) at the Kleindeist Bakery (Altmarkt) where she worked.
At home the air-raid sirens went off & they were all headed for the cellar.
The Kleindeist Bakery was destroyed. Most of the town was in flames.
Explosion after explosion came.
What did Harold want Rob Strickland to do?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written dual timeline book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a large set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great political thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

I've always enjoyed this author's books, but this one - not so much. I do enjoy suspense novels, so the genre wasn't the problem. I just didn't find it to be as well written as his previous books. There were a lot of problems with comma placement, which always makes a book difficult to read. Lots of misspelled words and inappropriate use of dashes (break-out is a noun, it's a verb without the dashes). At one point, a folder was actually described as a "vanilla" folder instead of a manila folder. Fortunately, that didn't happen again. But the bad editing even continued through the "About the Author" section (where, ironically, he praised his wife for her great editing skills). I'm not trying to be mean or petty, I just think that anyone who claims to be an author should have good writing and editing skills. I was wondering throughout the book if this was the same Dan Walsh whose books I had read before. Guess I'll stick to his inspirational novels.
We get to be w/Jack and Rachel again, as well as Officer Joe Boyd and his partner Hank! Looks like a laid back work time at a cabin by the lake. Jack has to write a major college paper and he needs to get the topic squared up, as well as the outline. Of course, something gets in his way and they are off for another adventure!!! It's wwaaayyyy to soon for another one!!! That was "When Comes The Night", the first in the Jack Turner series. It's nice if u can read that one first, but not necessary!! Enjoy the new adventure and also, if u haven't read any of Dans other books, u are really missing a treat!!! His books are wonderful!!!! ENJOY!!!!!! Co) MCELWOLF
I have read all of Dan's books and never been disappointed with any of them.
Remembering Dresden started out with a look at WWll and
I had to wonder where it was going but soon was pulled into this story and found it hard to put down.
The way Dan tied it all together kept me reading late into the night and loving every minute of it.
I won't give it away since you can get that from other reviews , I will say you should read the first book in the series , When Night Comes, first but this book will stand on it's own.
I highly recommend this book and I did not get a free copy from the author.
